8 simple ways to get at least 30mins of walking in per day

City Dwellers: (10-15mins) Walk an extra five blocks to the next subway station closer to your destination. Or walk an extra five blocks in any direction to find a new lunch outlet. (Bonus: Potentially cheaper subway or lunch fare!)

Career Women/Multi-Taskers: (15-30mins) Take your 2 p.m. conference call outside during a walk. (Bonus: Let nature/city sounds drown out some of the unnecessary banter!)

Men: (10-20mins) Walk to the nearby hardware store, instead of driving. (Bonus: More time away from home to do your manly thing!)

Moms: (15-30mins) Grab the stroller, secure the baby/toddler, and walk to the park. Or walk your kids to school in the morning, if they'll let you ... or at least part of the way so you don’t embarrass them. (Bonus: Vitamin D boost if it's sunny!)

Shoppers: (10mins) Park in the last row. (Bonus: Quick and easy parking spot without the waste of time searching for one...spend that time walking!)

Seniors: (15mins) Drive to your favorite park and walk around the pavement perimeter taking joy in the view of nature or even kids at play in the playground. (Bonus: Great potential for a good dose of laughter!)

Dog Owners: (10-30mins) Need I state the obvious?  Walk your dog, don’t just let him outside in the backyard. (Bonus: Pick up waste matter as you go, rather than let it accumulate in the backyard!)

Yoginis/Pilates Buffs: (15-30mins) Walk to the studio if you can in these 3rd chakra color flip flops. (Bonus: Burn 100-200 extra calories and get a good warm up for improved stretching and muscle tone!)
