Kevin J. O'Neill, Owner and Executive Producer of the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport along with the Town of Huntington Council, presented a donation check to Andrew McClure, EVP, Chief Operating Officer from Building Homes For Heroes and Carolyn Paszke, Events Coordinator from Building Homes For Heroes. The funds were raised to help carry out a major renovation to severely injured USMC Platoon Commander, First Lt. James Byler’s home and to make it handicap accessible. The John W. Engeman Theater hosted a special Broadway Concert Series-Broadway Salute on Friday, June 24, 2011. All the ticket proceeds, totaling $28,062.75, from Broadway Salute were presented to Building Homes For Heroes to benefit Lt. James Byler. Also included in the check were private donations made by Theater Patrons for Lt. Byler in the amount of $7,350. Making the total donation $35,412.75.
Brookhaven Town Senior Citizen Division held a joint installation luncheon for the Port Jefferson and St. Joseph’s Village Senior Citizen Clubs at the Meadow Club in Port Jefferson Station. In attendance to congratulate the clubs and honor past and present officers were Brookhaven Town Clerk Patricia Eddington, Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld and John Kreutz representing Tax Receiver Louis Marcoccia. Anyone interested in more information about any of the 40 Brookhaven Town Senior Citizen clubs are encouraged to call 631-451-9140.
Assemblyman Jim Conte (Huntington Station) recently met with local retirees at the Long Island Retired Public Employees Association event. During the event, Assemblyman Conte talked about the 2011 state budget, health care, retirement benefits, and how the property- tax cap will help Long Islanders living on fixed incomes.
